About

Pilates

Pilates works on our deep postural muscles. This helps to improve our posture but also creates a balance between strength and flexibility within our bodies. This in turn gives us the confidence to move freely, whilst also relieving stress and tension.

The Body Control Pilates Method is seen as a benchmark for safe and effective teaching of the highest quality. It is Europe’s largest professional Pilates organisation. The Body Control teacher training course is the most comprehensive of its kind in the world and its teachers work to a Code of Practice, governing safe and professional teaching standards, ethics and continuing education.

Louise

I am a qualified Body Control Pilates Matwork Teacher and I also hold a Basic Life Support First Aid Certification and I am fully insured. I have continued my Pilates education since qualification and have attended courses on bone health, pre and post-operative hip rehabilitation, lower back pain management, workshops on how to maintain healthy shoulder joints, neck, spinal, hip and knee movements. I also enjoy sport specific Pilates and have attended workshops on injury management and specific sporting needs, for example, golf, running, skiing, tennis, cycling and equine sports. Ultimately my aim is to help clients to keep moving, whether this is to keep playing golf in retirement, to run after a toddler or to enjoy a particular sport

Classes

Classes run in Fernhurst Monday to Friday, mornings only. Classes are small and friendly with a maximum of 5 people. Please contact me for availability. Private sessions are also available on request.

Prior to their first class all clients will be requested to complete a registration form which goes through medical history, injuries and goals to ensure the class is designed around individual needs. They will also be invited to undertake an initial Client Assessment before joining an existing class as an introduction to Pilates.

All equipment is provided and clients are requested to dress in comfortable stretchy clothing, with an extra layer in cooler weather and bring or wear socks

Katherine, Grayswood

Pilates with Lou has allowed me to become more flexible, have less back ache and given me solid core strength. Lou is a brilliant teacher who gives everyone personal attention and never makes you feel silly for not being able to manage every exercise. After each class I feel more relaxed, as if I had a good massage. Thank you Lou.
